We have been wanting to check out a new DIM SUM restaurant for a while.  So this past weekend we headed all the way to Sugarland to try out Kim Son.

They had some really interesting dishes.

Some of them like the crazy shrimp ball noodly looking things were really good.  And some were... really... interesting... Like the mango, mayo, and shrimp thing we got at the end.

The boys and I much preferred our old places Pork Buns and Calamari, but overall we still really enjoyed trying new things and even found a few things we will definitely be getting again if we find ourselves down that way again.

Puzzle Fiend

Ryan is a puzzle fiend.  He put Francesco together all by himself in no time at all.

[Nearly] Wordless Wednesday

It's a wonder we haven't lost one yet.

Thousands of dollars of play equipment..

Thousands of dollars in play equipment and a dozen kids playing in a giant pile of dirt.

And by giant I mean GIANT.

It's only 10 feet or so down.  It's okay.  Look ever the edge.  Stand on the very tip.  What's the worst that could happen?

"You go first, Connor."

"Look.  He made it!"

"Look, Connor!  This one is BIGGER!!"

"Wait for me!  I want to do it, too!"

Just look what we can do with dirt, rocks, and sticks.

Who needs toys?

Kevin had a heart attack.  Not because of the heights.  Or the death defying stunts.  Oh, no.  He had heart palpitations at just the THOUGHT of them getting into his car covered head to toe in dirt.  Oh the terror!  :)

Adventurous Eaters

The boys are pretty adventurous eaters.  They will try just about anything.  Once.  :)  They actually enjoyed the "baby octopus."

So much fun it should be illegal

Clearly we require more adult supervision.

It's a wonder they have survived this long...

Happy Birthday Daddy

The kid approved cake.

The "helpers."

"Ooohhh FROSTING!  Can we eat some??"  With our fingers?

No.  We have to sing first and blow out the candle.  "Happy Birthday to you... Happy Birthday to you...."

After the first verse Connor decided it was time to blow out the candle.

Or spit on the cake.

"No.  It is my candle!"

Forgotten Foto Friday

School has a variety of themed Fridays where you are supposed to dress up as something or another.  It was PJ day a few weeks ago.  The boys were all excited about getting to wear their favorite jammies to school so I thought that they might be willing to stand still and let me take their picture.  Together.  Smiling.  And looking at the camera.  Yeah... right.  :)

Ringling Brothers Circus: The Second Half

It started off with an elephant.  And a dog.  And a cowboy.

And when it was over Kevin asked "What was that?  Surely that's not all of the elephants?"  And Ryan chanted something about "elephants on parade!"  I have no idea.  Something to do with Clifford?  The big red dog?  Must be a school thing.

And the cliche clown car with a million clowns inside.

Ryan could have cared less about the clowns.  He just liked the car.

We "ooh'd" and "ahhh'd" at the trapeze show.  The boys wanted to swing, too.

When we first told the boys we were going to the circus they asked what they would see at the circus.  They wouldn't be placated with vague I don't knows, and I guess we'll find outs so backed into a corner I assured the boys there would be elephants.  Because no self-respecting circus could have a show without elephants, right??

Ryan was so excited - "ELEPHANTS ON PARADE!!!"

And Connor?  Well, you know he likes anything with animals.  His little eyes were glued to the elephants the entire time.

The box of popcorn set aside, totally forgotten.

As the elephants performed a variety of tricks.

It was definitely one of the highlights of the show.

I also really enjoyed the pirates.  Though I missed the plot part at first where they were singing, dancing, and fighting over the gold.

But the see-saw jumps were awesome.

And man did they get some air.

Speaking of air... we were a little startled as the motor cycle engine roared to life and sailed almost directly over our heads.

Connor loved it.  He waved goodbye to them as they headed back down the wire.  And was excited to see them make several encores back up the line over our heads.

And then there was the last act (and part of the grand finale).  The jumping people.

They reminded me a lot of the Lion King act at Disney World with their bright, crazy costumes, and amazing trampoline skills.

I really enjoyed watching them.

And was really impressed how in sync they were.

And how they managed to flip through those itty bitty little rings.  At the same time.  Wow.

And the glitter bomb, singing, dancing grand finale was a perfect ending to the show.

Though of course we had our own show/spectacle on the way to the parking lot.  :)  It was the "strong man" wrestling midgets.  :)
