Houston Motorsports Park 2012

Last Saturday we finally made it out to Houston Motorsports Park again.  We met some friends and had a great time hanging out at the races watching some great racing and spectacular crashes.  :)

At Intermission the boys took the opportunity to head down to the track to check out the race cars, meet the drivers, and pick up some swag.  :)

Needless to say some of Ryan's favorites were the Bandelero's.  The pint sized cars are driven by kids in the 8-11 year old range and get up to speeds of 70MPH.

Ryan's favorite cars of course were the two yellow ones.  I particularly liked the M&M car.   :)

When the races kicked off after intermission with the bandaleros Ryan was ready to cheer on his two favorite drivers.

He cheered his two drivers on to 1st and 2nd place in the race. :)

While we continued to cheer drivers on in the following races Kevin and Connor picked up hotdogs and drinks for us.  We had to give him an A for style as he managed to carry Connor and all the food at the same time.  :)

As bedtime rolled around, and the sun disappeared off in the horizion racing ground to a halt after a particularly bad crash that brought out a red flag, clean-up crews and a jet dryer to take care of an oil spill on the track.  Our friends decided to go ahead and head out during the break.  Ryan was still enjoying the racing and the boys were being good so we decided we would stay for one more race.

Which of course turned into two or three... :)

It was pitch black and well past bedtime when we finally headed out just before the last race.

As we headed to the car we were treated with a fireworks show from the track pit as the cars from the final race were took their warm up laps.

We hadn't even made it to the car before Ryan started begging to take his autographed race cards to school for show and tell on Monday.  And not long after the the lights from the stadium had faded in our rear view mirror both of the boys were sound asleep in their car seats.  A sure sign of fun-filled adventure.
