Carving Pumpkins

Twas the night before Halloween and all through the hood not a child was still stirring, except of course at our house.  :)

For there were three eyed monsters and dracula's too - swimming around in the boys' imaginations.

So with no time left to spare - we all got to work.

Kevin and Ryan made a dracula.

While Connor and I worked on a 3 eyed monster, with one giant tooth.

And of course there's not one single picture of the actual carving process - because these two hooligans were wielding the knives.

Thankfully when all was said and done there were still 40 fingers, and 40 toes.  :)

Needless to say - the boys had a blast.  :)

Be afraid. Be very afraid. :)

Connor is driving.

He finally figured out the gas and steering at the same time!  Woo-hoo!!  And Kevin pulled the limiter, so now he's careening down the street and around the park faster than Mario Andretti.  Be afraid.  Be very afraid.  :)

A Boo-tiful Breakfast!

As it was the last weekend before Halloween, I decided we should celebrate with a special Boo Breakfast.

Not that I have ever cooked eggs sunny side up.  Or had a clue what I was doing.  But as I was cracking eggs to scramble them  I realized how cool they would look as creepy monster eyes!  Not to mention Kevin likes his eggs still clucking so surely he would eat them right?  :)

And how perfectly they would go along with the ghost, and jack-o-lantern pancakes that the kids had requested.

Of course we also had to try a few other shapes - like spiders, and webs, bats, and haunted houses, too.

Needless to say our spooky breakfast was a smashing success.  :)

Pumpkin Oranges

Aren't they adorable??  :)

It was our turn for soccer snacks again this weekend.  The pumpkin oranges I made last year were such a big hit I decided to make some more.  :)

Speaking of Fall...

Though you would never know it by the 90 degree weather we have been having, we are officially into Fall.  Fall is one of my favorite times of year.  What's not to love about Fall??
  • Cooler weather!  At least theoretically...  Hey - it's not 100 anymore.  And we did have those 2 days where I had to find pants for the boys instead of shorts!  :)
  • New tv shows - finally something to watch on tivo!  No more reruns!  "Go On", anyone?  Loved March Sadness and died over the Google Car.  "Last Resort" looks promising as well.
  • College football - How about those 18th ranked Aggies at 5-1!! I am not sure I can take many more games like the game at Old Miss week before last though.  Particularly as we were at BW3's watching both the A&M game and the Texas & WVa game that were both down to the wire.
  • Caramel apples.  Ooey, gooey, carmel, chocolate, peanut butter chip monstrosities.
  • Halloween - the books, the movies, parties, carving pumpkins, costumes!  And of course the race against the clock to visit as many pumpkin patches and corn mazes as humanly possible.  :)
Speaking of which... we made it out to our companies Fall Festival at the Oil Ranch this past weekend.  Not that I remembered my camera of course.... so all pictures here courtesy of Kevin.  :)

The boys loved all the baby pumpkins and had a competition to see who could find the smallest baby pumpkin in the patch.

Afterwards we ran into some of the kids from the boy's school and rode the hayride out to the cow pasture to feed the cows with them.

Or more accurately throw the food down on the ground and get as far as humanly possible away from the cows the second they got in our general vicinity and the driver told us they slobbered.

Not that there was far to get.  Especially when that whole head and more came under the bar and right on top of your toes.  In flip flops... Nibble, nibble.... :)

Afterward we played on the playground for a while and then rode the train with some friends from the boys' OLD school.  Ryan for no apparent reason freaked out and screamed the entire ride.

Kevin gave up trying to calm him down and fantasized about being out there fishing instead of being on a moving train with a kid screaming in his ear.  :)

Of course we had to check out everything  - including the bounce houses.

And putt-putt course.  Ryan LOVED it!  And did surprisingly well!  We are definitely going to have to take him again some day.

We also raced through the maze to find all the flags.  Ryan beat me out by a hair. :)

And then checked out the tee pee and moved onto the kamikaze climbing poles and bean bag swings.

Having had about as much excitement as we could handle we met up with some friends, enjoyed some BBQ, and then let the kids play in the sand until it was practically pitch black and we finally had to take a hint.  :)

Soccer Season: Another weekend, another game

Go, Tigers!

And boy, was it a rough one!

Good game, boys.  Good game.  :)

Take that, Dragons!

Aww... Look at that sweet boy!

So enthusiastic to play.

So mild mannered.

Until that whistle blows...

Then you better look out!

Because he is a man on a mission.

To get.that.ball.

And once he's got it in his sights...

It's all his!

Look at that determination!

Look at that tongue!  :)

I wouldn't get between him and the ball if you know what's good for you.  Relative or not.

Because once he sets his sights on it, no one is going to hold him back.  Or push him around.  At least not with just one hand.  :)
